1966 TR4A. TRIUMPH TR4A JFS 44D Chassis number CT/73674-L Engine number CT/73895-E Built on 27 October 1966 and despatched to North America on 14 November 1966: License Number VHX 476. Specification in 1966: Triumph racing green, live axle, black leather seats, white hood, 60 spoke wire wheels, tonneau cover, Michelin 165 x 15 tyres and heater. The TR4A was returned to England in 1992 from Nipomo, California by The Northern TR Centre, Sedgefield, with engine number 59150-E installed and Registered JFS 44D Sold to Mr MacFarlane of Barnard Castle with a full MOT. Over the next 7 years the TR did little more than 700 miles and was subject to a cosmetic refurbishment including a respray and new interior and hood. I purchased the TR on 8 April 1999 and have since covered around 12,000 miles. I have continued with the rolling restoration, with the car never been off the road for more than 3 month during the winter, ensuring the job in hand is completed before the next is started. The work I have undertake to date include a full engine rebuild, including balancing lightning and unleaded conversion, installation of an overdrive gearbox, conversion to RHD, a suspension and brake overhaul. A full bare metal respray with all panels removed and waxoylled. Since owning the car it has been in constant use and used all year round weather permitting, taking in such events as Le Mans 24Hr, Annual trips to The TR International, The Lakes Weekend and Northumbrian TR Group Meetings, Runs and Shows with hopefully many more trouble free happy TR journeys in the Future.
