Motorsport
The Revington TR/TR Register Sprint & Hillclimb Championship has been in existence for a number of years and is well supported by the members as both spectators and competitors as it offers an inexpensive entry into competitive Motorsport.
Members also take part in many other forms of motorsport including racing, rallying, test days, autotests, gymkhanas, and treasure hunts.
Help and advice is always available for members on preparing cars for competition.
The TR Register has a dedicated competition chairman and sprint/hillclimb coordinator. For the latest competition news why not check our competitions news section.
Technical Help
The club has a volunteer team of technical experts who can be contacted via email ( technical@tr-register.co.uk) or letter. They will respond the same way. Suitable questions and answers will be printed in TR Action.
There is a wealth of Technical related articles, documents and handbooks available within the members section of this website as well as within the pages of our magazine, TR Action.
The TR Register have forged strong links with many specialist TR spares suppliers and restoration companies. Many companies give members discounts and all willingly give help and advice.
Many members advertise TR spares, for sale or wanted, in the club magazine and via our Classifieds section free of charge. In addition, there is an independent TR Spares Development Fund (TRSDF) which has existed for many years to assist in the manufacture of otherwise unobtainable spares.
The club also has a series of information sheets for each model of TR. A more formal engineers report on a potential purchase may be obtained from the company "Classic Assessments" who do pre-purchase inspections for a very reasonable fee.
Local support
Local group meetings have been the backbone of the club for over 30 years. All TR Register members in the UK are automatically a member of a local group at no extra cost, and all members can benefit from the help and support that comes from being a part of a world-wide club of thousands of TR owners and enthusiasts.
Local groups often enjoy motoring holidays and weekends touring Britain and Europe in the company of fellow enthusiasts. Tours have regularly included trips to Ireland, France, Belgium, Holland, Italy, Spain, Germany and America.
Help and advice is always available at local level and this is particularly useful to new members who want to purchase their first TR. You are never left to struggle alone in the TR Register.
Regional Group locations, together with dates and venues of meetings and contact details can be found here. Advice on buying a car or help with Technical problems can often be found at local level at no cost. You will be surprised at how helpful fellow Register members are - use your local group as a contact point.
Historical records and archives
The club has registrars for each model of TR and derivative; these are the experts who are able to answer questions on historical detail for each model and often individual cars.
The club also has an archive and library of TR literature and DVDs which can be found within the members section of this website for viewing by club members. Owners of TR2-3A can benefit from a special low price on traces of their TR's original production history (see below) but traces for all models of TR can be obtained at the full price from British Motor Industry Heritage trust (BMIHT).
The club also has an archive and library of TR literature and DVDs which can be examined by club members. Owners of TR2-3A can benefit from a special low price on traces of their TR's original production history but traces for all models of TR can be obtained at the full price from British Motor Industry Heritage trust (BMIHT).
Events
The TR Register is routinely and professionally represented at high profile shows and events across the UK and all members will be welcomed on the TR Register stand. In addition to this, the TR Register also runs several of its own national events throughout the year, these include:
Regionally and locally there are dozens of major events to participate in throughout the year.
Access to TS2
The TR Register is hugely proud of its ownership of TS2, the second TR2 ever made and the first right hand drive version of the model that began it all. The car was restored by the club in time for the 2001 NEC Classic Motor Show and has been used as a promotional vehicle by the club and its members ever since. Members wishing to loan out TS2 may do so by application to the TS2 trust. The member must demonstrate that their use of the vehicle will promote the TR Register or the TR marque in some way.
YOUR TR REGISTER SUBSCRIPTION PAID FREE OF CHARGE!
Well, almost! After you have joined the TR Register, whenever you make a purchase at Moss Europe (by mail or in person), make sure that your name and register number is recorded on your invoice. If your purchases, within a 12 month period prior to your renewal date, amount to over £550 (incl. VAT) and £250 (incl. VAT) for youth members, your TR Register subscription will be paid for by Moss Europe. When you receive your annual renewal form send it, plus copies of your invoices, to: Customer Services, Moss Europe Ltd, Hampton Farm Industrial Estate, Hanworth, Middlesex, TW13 6DB, England. (If you pay by Direct Debit, please do not cancel this. We will refund you direct from Club HQ). Your details will then be processed and your annual subscription paid. Your details must be forwarded promptly to avoid delays. Do not send the reminder and invoice copies to the TR Register office as this results in a delay in paying your subscription.
Caveat Emptor
To ensure continuity of membership, those using the Moss Europe 'Subscription Paid Free of Charge' service should check when purchasing goods that the service is still available. The TR Register cannot be held responsible if Moss Europe withdraws this service.
Lost Registration Numbers
The DVLA's rules for the V765 scheme, under which original registration numbers can sometimes be recovered, now require that the vehicle be inspected by the club prior to certifying the V765 application. Therefore applicants should now initially phone Jo Whitty on 01235 818866 to discuss their particular circumstances. She can advise as to which signatory of the club will be able to assist with the inspection procedure. The cost of a V765 application will be £50 for members and £70 for non-members payable to the TR Register. In addition, if the vehicle cannot be brought to a signatory or other volunteer for inspection then a charge for travel expenses may be required. Call Jo Whitty on 01235 818866 or email office@tr-register.co.uk.
Traces
Available for TR2/3/3A only via Mike Ellis, Daintree, Fullers Road, Rowledge, Farnham, Surrey, GU10 4LB. Email: tr2-3registrar@tr-register.co.uk. Either send a cheque for £16 payable to M. Ellis or email me for bank account details if you wish to pay direct. If applying by post please include an SAE and in all cases I need a note of your car's 'TS'commission/chassis number and registration number if a UK car. Approximately four to six weeks later, I will post you a typed 'birth certificate' of the car's original build specification, build date and (usually) the delivery destination. These traces are around a third of the cost of the BMIHT heritage certificates and include much the same information.
Normally, TR2/3/3As can only be traced via the commission number - however, it may be possible to trace a car using the six or seven gure bodyshell number. More work is involved, and the cost may therefore be higher. TR3Bs can only be traced by Heritage as below, as the club does not have acess to TR3B records. TR3B/4/4A/5/6/7/8 owners can only get a trace done via the Archive Department, Heritage Motor Centre, Banbury Road, Gaydon, Warwick, CV35 0BJ.
The cost is £50 and you must quote the car's year and model, plus the commission number/chassis number. You will receive a certificate suitable for framing. An on-line order form is also available on the BMIHT website.
