We were incredibly lucky with the weather for mid-September as 7 TR’s and 2 Stags assembled in the carpark outside Kilpeck church in West Herefordshire. 3 of the cars were welcome visitors from Glavon. Kilpeck church is famous for its racy medieval carvings based on less than Christian values!
The Reliant outside the church did not join the party.
Alan Barker had devised a clue-filled route which took participants to some of the most beautiful parts of the county based in the Golden Valley. We expected a devious set of clues and Alan did not disappoint.Blink and you missed many of the clues.And we had the dramatic backdrop of the steep sided Black Mountains playing their role in distracting us from the search. Cruel that we dared not take in the views. Points, points, points!
TR4A pilot Andrew Langton with co-pilot Alister were equal top on clue points, but won out on closeness to the 26.7 mile course distance to Martin & Sian Cull’s beautiful farmhouse and Martin’shuge recently completed “playroom” in the grounds. Narrowly beaten to second place were Chris & Jan from Glavon.
Just to add to the challenge, Alan had got his Right confused with his Left on a couple of occasions. In recognition of this, he was presented with the Wooden Spoon!
The delicious snacks and sweets were consumed amid happy chat and the delightful whippets and sheepdogs.
Our thanks and appreciation go to Alan for the highly entertaining route, and to Martin & Sian Cull for accommodating us so well in the playroom. A very enjoyable day was had by all.
