Our Whitby Trip
We had eight cars turn up to go on our annual Whitby trip, organised by Andrew.
There were two meeting places for us all to get together for the run. We were very lucky with the weather and all we had was sunshine and clouds. It was sad not to have our normal group, and we wished Peter well, for his Operation. Both Jeff, and Mike who would normally be with us have sadly passed away this year.
We had a mix of TR’s ,with for a change less TR6’s than other models, there being two TR4’s and a 4A among the group, We stopped for three nights and had two group meals organised by Jackie to allow us all have a great time together again.
Andrew planned a good route for us all that included “Robin Hoods Bay” and many lovely local places to visit, made all the better for the warm weather
It was due to having a yellow car that I became “ tail end charlie” in the runs but its always easier following, than leading. My recently restored TR4, behaved very well and showed me some miner faults to sort when I got home.
Paul has sorted his TR6 out after his recent engine overhaul, but our other Paul is still having problems with his power steering modification, and had to use his modern car. It was good for Chris to buy Mikes TR6, and keep it in our club, I think Mike would have approved.
It is always very good to have so many wives on our outings, that makes them a very social get together, and we look forward to the International and all going out together again.
The TS2 run around all the groups has now been slightly changed and the “White Rose group” are having the car Wednesday July 20th and Thursday the 21st. This is to allow the Vale of York group to have the car after Newby Hall Show, and stop us having to bring it down just to take it back up the country.
My latest TR2 has now gone to”Mathewsons” , being collected by Derek but again no film crew with him, and I await my next restoration, that is in transit from America, exciting times.
Just a reminder our next meeting is Wednesday, after next, on the 6th of July.
