WHARFEDALE HEAD BACK TO THE BOWLING ALLEY, SUNDAY 26th NOVEMBER

WHARFEDALE HEAD BACK TO THE BOWLING ALLEY, SUNDAY 26th NOVEMBER

It had been 4 years since the Wharfedalers chucked a bowling ball down a bowling alley. February 2019  to be exact, I checked back in my photos. Up until then it had been a yearly event at Go Bowling in Shipley, followed by Sunday lunch at the Halfway House pub.

Covid had intervened from 2020, and there it had lain. Until earlier this year, when John Hussey suggested we revive it, so the day was set. Sunday 26th November, 3 lanes booked at Go Bowling, with lunch afterwards back at the Halfway House. 22 people in all turned up, a great turn out.

There's some serious, or is it despondent looking bowlers here....... the ball has gone down the gutter again.

Back in 2019 I had been fortunate, or unfortunate, to win the tournament, I think unfortunate as I was then stuck with the trophy for the next 4 years. It's always good to have a trophy, but this was one you couldn't really put on display at home. So I was determined not to retain the trophy this time.

Fortunately John Hussey prevailed and ended up winning. The trophy is now with him. Phew.

A thoroughly enjoyable day, it also meant some of the members with young families could also join in, it is a sport for all ages. I also think it's something we will do again in 2024.
