Red Rose Bulletin - June 2020

Red Rose Bulletin - June 2020

RED ROSE JUNE BULLETIN

Life In Lock Down Month three!!

Well the Red Rose bulletin is not quite as easy to write as it was before this new kind of normal that we all find ourselves living in. Hopefully you and your loved ones are all safe and well and enjoying the sunshine.

We would normally have been well into the car season by now and taking advantage of the lovely weather by getting out and about in our cars.

As it is the weeks are flying by and there is a long list of events we didn’t get to do. However here at Red Rose we don’t let a lockdown defeat us!

Thank you to everyone who has been posting pictures on the Facebook group.

We have all certainly been keeping ourselves busy working on our cars and houses

Some projects have been bigger than others! David Bailey now has a very impressive new garage for his cars which has prompted much discussion on the Facebook page.

The parcel delivery drivers have also been busy delivering all those car parts and we should have a very impressive array of TR’s on the road after this with no failures to proceed in contention for this year’s broken spanner award!

Some of us have been trying new skills!

Jonathan tried his hand at dog grooming and I have been brushing up on my baking and learning to touch type! All I will say is we were very glad to see the dog groomer, and I don’t think I will be winning any prizes for speed typing! However our waistlines are proof that the baking is at least edible!

What new skill have you learnt during lockdown? Let us know with photos please! and we can do a feature in next month’s bulletin

We have had a suggestion from a member about having a zoom meeting!

If we have enough interest this is something we could do on the date our next meeting would be due. It would be great to see all your faces and your dodgy hair! I am now sporting a side fringe and some very impressive roots!

MAY

We had lots of cars out their drives for The National Stay at Home Motor show on May 3rd and on VE day when we should have been at Gawsworth Hall there were lots of cars and some very impressive afternoon teas on display!

A STAR IN OUR MIDST!

Our very own Tracie Bailey has been working hard on a number of projects to help her community and this one made it into the local paper!

A WINSFORD mum has created a tree of hope in her garden.

Mum-of-two Tracie Bailey is inviting people who pass by to add anything colourful to thank all the key workers who are supporting the community during the pandemic. "I crocheted a rainbow and people started adding little bits," said Tracie, a keen sewer, who is making scrubs and mask extenders to protect frontline staff.

"I've brought my sewing machine into the lounge. It's better than just sitting watching the TV."

Her friend Sharon O’Brien said: "Tracie has decorated a tree in her garden for people to look at whilst out on their daily walk whilst Covid-19 lockdown is on.

"People love it and have been adding their own decorations."

MAY’S PHOTO’S

Although we can’t actually go out in our cars at the moment everyone seems to have been very busy working on them and you have all been posting pictures of your projects and car related purchases on the Red Rose Facebook page.

Here are some of our favourite ones for May

TR4 on Werneth Low Provided by Peter Fenlon who sold the car in 2013 after completing a high quality restoration. Car now lives with Keith and Linda Lewin who use the car regularly for club events and trips to Europe.

TR International Weekend 2020 / 2021

It has recently been confirmed that this year’s International event has now been cancelled.

A venue and dates have yet to be confirmed although Alan and Wayne were seen recently at Rutland agricultural showground whilst scouting for 2020 venues. This will no doubt provoke much speculation on the forum.

Oulton Park 50th Anniversary Weekend 30/31st August

I am sure many of you are wondering about whether or not this event will be going ahead.

We are monitoring the situation and have contacted the Portal Hotel for an update and we are waiting on a response from them, but at this point in time we are still hopeful that the event can be held in some form and as soon as we have any news we will be in touch.

This event has now been re-scheduled for the 6th September 2020. All previous bookings and registrations will be transferred to the new date. If you cannot make this new dates, you can cancel your attendance from within your "My Events" tab in the members area.

This is a new event and will be held on the 18th October with lunch followed by a private screening of “The World’s Fastest Indian” at the Woolton Picture House, Woolton Village Liverpool.

End Of Year Run

We are very much hoping that we will be able to have a run towards the end of the year and any suggestions would be most welcome.

PLANS FOR 2021

2020 is not looking like it will have many car events in so we all need to look ahead to next year more than ever and start making plans!

Suggestions so far include a holiday to France, A weekend in Wales with a visit to Portmeirion and the ever popular Coast to Coast. If you have anything you would like us to look into doing in 2021 please email us at trredrose@hotmail.com You all have plenty of time to come up with ideas so get your thinking caps on!
