Drive It Day 2019

Drive It Day 2019

The LTRG were out and about on Drive It Day (28th April) celebrating the joy of driving a classic. Some of us went a little off piste with our vehicle choice - Mick was clearly persuaded to combine Drive It Day with a little ground care and enjoyed whizzing around on the ride-on. Phil celebrated it early with a trip to the Brecon Beacons on the Saturday.

Brian was joined by a number of the Nene Valley Group on the Stilton Cheese Classic Vehicle Run which follows the original stilton delivery route (started in the 1700s) through the Leicestershire countryside to The Bell Inn at Stilton. The growl of engines that have stood the test of time and the unmistakeable burble of the TR6 exhausts reverberated around the leafy lanes. There's nothing quite like sitting in a chunk of automotive history!

John and Margaret had a great day out with Geoff and Liz Capell (TR5) from Nene Valley Group at the Avoncroft Museum. By chance, they met with several members of the Stourbridge Pre War Car Club, became honorary members for the day. The Stourbridge group had about 25 cars present ranging from a 1920s Bullnose Morris through to a mighty V8 Jensen Interceptor.
