Saturday 19th October saw the first full day break from the incessant rain we have seen over the past few weeks, which allowed the new Thatcham Classic Show to continue. A few large puddles on the way in led to a soft grassed area, which was just firm enough to take the 70 - 80 cars that came and went throughout the day.
Heavy clouds and the threat of more rain meant that many did not stay for the full 6 hrs scheduled for the show, and the visiting spectators appeared low too. It’s always a risk this time of year, but overall, considering the weather leading up to the show, it can only be deemed a success, in being able to proceed at all.
The clubhouse provided hot & cold soft drinks and cake, and a burger van provided more substantial food.
There were two WFTR group members with a red TR2 and a green TR6. Dave Rumens ex TR7 and Spitfire were also there, and of course my TR. There was also a TR4 for a brief period, but not one I know.
Thanks to Mike Field for the report and photos.
