Following on from my last report East Saxons have been very busy with shows and our twice monthly pub meetings. Sunday 6th Aug, 20 members attend the Abberton / 5 parishes Country Fair, this show is a one car club invite so it was good to have a good turnout, the day before a lot of the country had torrential rain fall and that included Abberton, upon arrival cars had to wait around an hour before being able to enter the field waiting for the very muddy entrance to be sorted and with very gusty winds this meant no chance of getting the gazebo to stay up. But having said all that, it was a very good day out for those that attended. Thanks Gordon for organising.

Next up was the Triumph @70 weekend at Bath and West showground. 17 East Saxon members made the trip some going down mid-week and staying for a few days afterwards to make a break of it, Judy and I arrived Friday afternoon making our way to the green gate entrance only to find a Track with Pot Holes deep enough to ground out a TR at any point, we gently made our way weaving left and right to avoid damage, this made a great slalom course but definitely not the entrance for TR’s entering a Classic car show. As for the show I can only describe it as “A very poor event” one register member describing it as possibly the worst he had attended, so let’s all hope that the 2024 international will be what we were all expecting this year to be. Those of us that had made the effort to attend made the most of a bad time, Saturday a lot of the ladies took the bus into Wells and spent the day there, some of us men took ourselves off to the Haynes Museum, a great day out and one that certainly made up for the lack of things going on at the show. Saturday evening 14 of us went out for dinner at a Greek restaurant in Shepton Mallet, a great evening with good friends, good food a drink or two and a laugh along the way. Thanks Judy for organising.

Sunday morning at the show we had some good news, Jim & Chris Tully whom we met on our Derbyshire Dales weekend had entered Jims recently rebuilt TR6 into the concourse de elegance competition, and won the award for best none standard TR6, well done Jim & Chris.

Also on Sunday Aug 13th was the Saffron Waldon Common show, a number of cars attended and again a good day was had by all.

Our last show for this report was the Tewin Car show and Fete, around 15 of us attended, meeting up with the North London group that had around 20 attending, this show certainly made up for the TR @70 weekend, lots of stalls for the ladies, a very large number of cars of all types, live music and great weather, thanks Ron for organising this one.
