TRA 313 – Devon Group

Hi everyone, well, following my update last month regarding our new venue for our ‘first Thursday’ Club Nights, the venue has unexpectedly closed (apparently due to the Landlord’s health) and it was only because, by chance, that John & Mo decided to call in the weekend before our meeting, that we were able to hatch an alternative plan. So, our First Thursday meetings for March and April have been at the Kings Arms Inn at Tedburn St Mary. Keeping to the mid Devon location, this too seemed a very popular location with good food and a separate room for us to us – for now. We hope that this venue continues to prove popular and will become our regular pub meet for a while now but please keep an eye on our Devon Events page, especially before travelling, just to make sure there’s not been any other problem! I’m also in discussion with the Willand attendees (the second Friday of the Month) about trying out an alternative venue too, so please look out for updates from me and/or details on our Events page.

We’ve recently held our second Sunday lunch meeting of the year, this one kindly arranged by Mark & Jo and once more, we had a good number of members coming along - It’s certainly good to see you all. As noted by Andrew in his Facebook post, there were more Michelloti than Karmann cars at this event – which is quite something, as shown in the line up at Woodleigh Coach House. I remember some 7 or 8 years ago when just about every car was a TR6 when an intrigued passer-by asked if we were a TR6 Owners Club?

I’ve continued to update our event programme for the year, which you can see and print from our Devon page, so please do have a look. Our next big event will be on Drive it Day, Sunday 28th April, when we will be driving into Cornwall to visit the Cornwall Aviation Heritage Centre as part of our wider scenic drive on that day.

I’ve also mentioned at our Club Nights that I shall be collecting names for some upcoming Devon shows, including Killerton and Powderham, where we are required to register our attendance, details will be coming out in my emails but if you don’t get these from me, then please do get in touch.

In last month’s report I said I needed to go and fix my car… I’ve not been driving my TR as I’m trying to install a recalibrated metering unit. A replacement has just arrived in the post this morning, so fingers crossed that it’ll all be fine this time. I hope you’ve got your car sorted ready for the spring and summer and I look forward to seeing you soon. Alan
