Chiltern TR Group - News 10 July 2024

Dear Friends

Our next meeting will be Wednesday evening, 17th July at The Pilgrim in North Marston, MK18 3RD. Once again, we are grateful to Aidan for making the necessary arrangements. Do come and join us if you can.

Dear Chiltern TR Colleagues,

This month’s mid monthly get together will be held next Wednesday 17th July and I’m pleased to confirm that we will be returning back to one of our mid-summer favourites - The Pilgrim Pub at 25 High Street North Marston Bucks (Postcode MK18 3RD) – www.thepilgrimpub.co.uk.

Hopefully the weather will be good for us, so that we can again sit out and eat in their back garden as we did last year.

I have said that we will be arriving from 5.30pm onwards and again as previously, as the food is cooked from fresh to order and they only have a small kitchen, there will be a wait once we have placed our orders, which won’t be a problem to us at all.

A couple of points to note:

  • For those travelling from the Thame area and who would pass through Long Crendon and Chearsley to the A41 just south of Waddesdon, please note that at the staggered crossroads at the A41, the road opposite (Blackgrove Road) is currently closed. However, to overcome this, ignore any “Diversion” signs and just turn right on to the A41 toward Aylesbury and in half a mile, there is a new roundabout where you take the first exit to the left on to a new road (signposted Whitchurch, Oving & Quainton).

This new road will bring you back to the old road (by turning right at the next roundabout), which in turn will take you past Oving and on to the outskirts of Whitchurch, where you turn left on to North Marston Road and The Pilgrim is then on the right-hand side in the middle of North Marston village.

  • There is a small chance that their car park may be closed. If so, we’ll have to park at the front of the pub and possibly out on the quiet road.

They are looking forward to seeing us again and so that I can keep them updated with our numbers, please would you let me know if you will be able to join us, either by e-mail to aidan.coles@btinternet.com, or by text to 07836-530780.

I look forward to hearing from you and to hopefully seeing you next Wednesday (17th).

Best regards

Aidan

A couple of events in July have just come to my attention.

The Thames Traditional Boat Show, which features classic cars, at Fawley Meadow, Henley on Thames is 19th – 21st July. See https://www.tradboatfestival.com/ for details. Also, see the booking form at https://forms.123formbuilder.io/form-1454938/2024-vintage-classic-vehicle-registration-form . The deadline for online booking seems to be Saturday 13th. It may be possible to ask for an extension to this date or you could take a chance and just turn up on the day. We will be there on the Saturday.

Also on Saturday 20th July is “The Big Meet” at The Walled Garden, West Wycombe, HP14 3AP, held for fund raising for men’s mental health, and organised by our good friend David Banes at the Hellfire Motor Vehicle Club. See https://hellfiremotorvehicle.club/coffee-%26-conrods-big-meet.

I have attached an update list of events.

That’s all for now, see you next Wednesday.
