Social Scene Report 316

Hi fellow followers. A busy time starting with Peter Parkinsons trip to see the Norfolk Lavender Fields on 20th June in hisTR7, but, as you will see from the attached photo, things happened to halt procedings (namely a Lithuanian artic). Fortunately no one was hurt but Vicky was understandably rather shaken up.

On 7th July, Ladies Day was again a great success with fifteen cars starting with coffee at the Olive Grove at Polebrooke. We then enjoyed a drive planned by Tim and June Hurry, through some beautiful villages to Kelmarsh Hall to visit their lovely gardens and a look around the house. We were greeted by a very well informed guide for a chat about the house and its history. The servants quarters were most interesting and included a chat about his job from Jacob (a hologram of a servant).

We then drove on to The Bosworth Hall Hotel at Market Bosworth where a cream tea was waiting for us. In the evening we enjoyed a three course meal and good company in a private room followed by a quiz produced by Marie Johnson and a “feely bag competition” by Babs Wallis and Debs Corney.

The next morning we journeyed on , again by a tulip route, to Gates Garden Centre near Oakham. Thank you all our Ladies for your support with our hobby throughout the year and thanks to everyone who helped me in organising this event.

Other events attended were 12 cars at Kimbolton Country Fayre, 5 cars at Lee Valley’s Shine and Show, and 6 cars at the Evening show at Greetham, near Oakham.

We changed our Pub meet venue for one night to the Abbotts Elm at Abbotts Ripton , which attracted 15 cars.
