Social Scene Report 308

Hi Fellow followers. Another busy month with Camb Followers well supporting The International at Lincoln. A great time was had ending in a "triumph" for Trevor Sherwood , our Joint Group Leader, in winning awards with his Gloria. He was presented with the organiser's cup for Car of the show and awarded third place in the Triumph Survivors competition. Well done Trevor.

On 8th July a group of us attended the Kimbolton Country Fayre which again was well supported. We were fortunate and able to find a good spot in the shade.

On 18th July a group of us motored to Broom to attend the Lea Valley Groups Shine and Show evening. With this hot weather there were queues for the bar and the BBQ but it was a most enjoyable evening.

On the 19th July Peter Parkinson organised a trip to Batemans Brewery at Whalpole All Saints. They were given a tour of the Brewery with samples of course, followed by a ploughmans in the restaurant.

The 22nd July was Ladies Day which we organise to thank our Ladies for letting us play with our "toys" throughout the year. We met at Thrapston Services and then, using a tulip listing and a marked map, journeyed to the luxurious Ettington Park Hotel Near to Stratford upon Avon, stopping for lunch at Heart of the Shires shopping village. We set up a Triumph display in a reserved area in front of the hotel. Cream teas were served mid-afternoon and following the use of the hotel's leisure facilities we sat down in the Library for a three course meal. We closed the evening with a quiz kindly arranged by Barbara Wallis and Debbie Corney before retiring to the Bar.

The following morning, after Breakfast with a very extensive menu, we journeyed into Stratford courtesy of minibuses for some retail therapy and a boat trip along the river returning to the hotel to collect the cars and journey home. Thanks to Tim Hurry for his invaluable help in organising the route.
