Lands End Trial – 29/30 March 2024

From Eric Batty: We completed the trial, and managed to clear every special section, so very pleased with the result. We started from Cirencester at 1 pm on Good Friday and finished at 10.30 am Saturday at the Miners Arms, Mithian nr St Agnes, Cornwall.

We were driving through the night and next day, the only stops we had were one compulsory of 30 minutes and one of 1 hour. Most of the special sections were at night and they were very challenging. One section on Exmoor we had to stop on the steepest part of a hill, put the hand brake on and in neutral, with foot off the brake. The car only just held, was sliding back slightly, the Marshall checking to make sure I had my foot off the brake, managed to get away with a lot of wheel spin so passed the section. From then on we had the rear brake on the driver’s side screeching under heavy braking.

We covered 459 miles and used 86 litres of fuel which is about 26 miles to the gallon.

Drive It Day – 21 April 2024

What a great national Drive It Day to take your classic out on the road. We chose to go to the Salt and Malt at Chew Magna, they do a great breakfast and there are some lovely walks around the lake.

We had a good turnout of TRs and were joined by several other classics in a part of the car park which was fenced off for classic cars. Lots more photos on Facebook.

Castle Combe Track Day – 21 April 2024

Another great day at Castle Combe Racing Circuit, this is the first time I hadn't been on the course but I couldn't keep away altogether. There were quite a number from Brunel and Glavon Groups, and the organiser Kev Bryant kindly took me out as a passenger in his primrose TR3A on one of the sessions, my goodness is he a good driver, I learnt quite a lot from him in that session.

Puxton – Sunday 12 May

A bright sunny Sunday morning drew out the crowds with a good gathering of two TRs alongside some other interesting motors. More photos on Facebook.
